Fishing, step by step

From the cast to the catch — and what spends what.

The cycle
  • Cast — costs energy. The float lands and the wait begins.
  • Wait — how long depends on the pond, the bait, the hour and the weather. The float twitches when a fish takes interest.
  • The bite — the float goes under. The fisher hooks it himself.
  • The fight — the line has tension: the fish surges, the fisher reels. Past the limit the line snaps.
  • The catch — the fish goes to the backpack with its own size, weight, stars, rarity and variant.

Energy

Every cast spends energy. When it runs out the fisher stops and rests until it fills again. Maximum energy and cost change with talents, with dishes from the kitchen and with your pet.

Pond saturation

Fishing the same spot without pause tires the pond: bites take longer and what comes is poorer. Saturation falls over time — including while the game is closed — and feed restores it at once. That is what the grinder is for.

Time and weather

The game clock has day and night, and the weather moves between sun, rain and snow. Many species only show up at one time of day (the When it shows up column in Fish says which), and rain changes the pond's rhythm.

The rod wears out

Every catch eats durability. At zero the rod breaks and fishing stops until you repair it at the Forge (coins and materials) or leave it on the Ranch bench, which recovers 3.0 per minute — also while the game is closed — and hands the rod back at 50%. Rods hanging on the hooks recover 1.0 per minute.

While the game is closed

Time away restores energy, saturation and the durability of hanging rods, and moves the breeding tanks along. No fish is ever caught offline: everything comes from casts made with the game open.
